Cinematographer – Sidat de Silva Sid has been busy over the last couple of years learning as much as working. As always, every project poses new challenges to the cinematographer, and the recent explosion of shooting formats means there's always something to learn. 2008 saw Sid having to light and shoot hand puppets in one project and marionettes (string puppets) in another. For Qantas he had the opportunity to shoot the one-take-only shot of the maiden landing of the airline's first Airbus A380. So far this year Sid has shot four commercials for TV (that included 3 Mobile), a number for the Web and new media, music videos, one short film where he had to create a flashback sequence in Ancient China and another where he had to cover a scene so that one actor could play three roles in it. A documentary that will tell stories of domestic violence and a commercial with a trick up its sleeve to 'grab eyeballs' are in the works.
